This Asteroid is to pass fairly close to Earth this week. The good news is IT WONT HIT US.If you have a decent scope you may even be able to see it.Near Earth Asteroid 285263,also known as 1998QE2 is very big, somewhere in the order of between 2.5-2.9 km in diameter.
Its not a cruise liner, but a big rock hurtling through space. Its about 12 times as big as the QE2.
an impact from an object this big could cause near extinction for life.
Coming within about 4million miles of us on friday about 21.00hrs B.S.T.This distance still works out 15 or so times further than the old Moon of ours.
Not coming round again for 200years.It wont hit us,but it will shine brightly in the night sky,no fainter than about mag +10,being borderline for Binoculars.
